**How to Calculate:**

(put outs + assists) / (chances) = Fielding Percentage

**About Fielding Percentage:**

Fielding percentage is a stat used to measure the percentage of times that a defensive player handles a batted ball or throws a ball properly without making a mistake. It measures a player’s defensive ability based on how many chances that player has had to make a play and a player will lose points for each mistake made.

**Example:**

Say a player has 36 put outs, five assists, five errors and 46 chances. You would then add the put outs (36) and the assists (5) together equaling 41. Then you would divide that by the chances which in this case is 44. And you would get a fielding percentage of 0.891.
